Depending on the time of your flight, you will have some free time to enjoy optional tours in the capital city San Jose or its surroundings.

    Overnight at Sleep Inn Hotel.

Optional tours, not included in the price (if your flight arrives really early in the morning)

    • San Jose City Tour
San Jose is a beautiful city, and it is possible to discover all its secrets in a half-day city tour. Visit the most emblematic buildings that have been turned into stunning theaters, museums, local markets and restaurants. Try local dishes, buy amazing souvenirs, and talk with local people to understand how people live in this country.
    • Poas Volcano National Park
Poas Volcano is one of the most popular Costa Rica attractions. As it is located really close to the international airport and the San Jose hotels, even the people who don’t have much time in their itinerary can visit this National Park. On the way, enjoy beautiful landscapes decorated with picturesque local restaurants, farms and crops.

    Breakfast at the hotel.

The adventure begins early with a 2-hour transfer from your hotel in San Jose to the Operations Center, located in Siquirres. During the transfer, guides will provide valuable information about the geography and history of the places that are crossed, as well as the different cultures, flora and fauna.

Arriving at the Operations Center, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and change clothes. Once ready, you will be transported to the river where you will receive the necessary equipment and a safety briefing. Here is where the real adventure begins! Pacuare River offers 52 rapids along 32 kilometers through stunning waterfalls, canyons and valleys. This first tour in the river lasts about two hours, passing through impressive canyons with waterfalls of crystalline waters. The duration depends on the level of the river and weather conditions.

In the middle of the river, you will make a stop to enjoy lunch. The rafts are transformed into tables and the guides into chefs.

This first stage of the trip ends upon arrival at the lodge, located along the Pacuare River, between 1:30 and 2 pm.

In the afternoon, you have the chance to take an optional excursion, such as the canopy tour (not included in the package rate) or any of the hikes. Or, if you prefer, you can simply relax and unwind.

At dusk, enjoy a delicious dinner before a well-deserved night's rest.

    Overnight at Rios Tropicales Lodge.

    Breakfast at the hotel.

After a delicious and healthy breakfast, it’s time to get into the river again. The rapids of the second part of the river are even more exciting, a mixture of class III and IV rapids surrounded by stunning scenery. This second part of the river lasts approximately 3 hours.

The tour ends with the satisfaction of having explored one of the toughest rivers in the world. Upon arrival, you will have time to enjoy a tasty lunch, take a shower, and change clothes before the journey to Arenal.

The transfer to Arenal will take 3 hours approximately.

    Overnight at Volcano Lodge.

    Breakfast at the hotel.

The first adventure of the day will be a biking tour around Arenal Lake. This is a relaxing bike ride with a distance of 16 miles, through tropical forest on a paved road. As you bike along Arenal Lake at the base of the Arenal Volcano, you'll pass rainforest, rural farmlands, and wildlife. You'll have the chance to see different kinds of monkeys, toucans, coatis and more.

In the afternoon, explore the majestic Arenal Volcano and enjoy its relaxing hot springs. Few sites in Costa Rica inspire more respect and admiration than Arenal Volcano. At 5437 feet, its tall and conical shape stands imposing over the pastured green hillsides that surround its base. Although currently in a resting phase, Arenal remains Costa Rica's most active volcano for the past 43 years. Its history is charged with eruptions - both major and minor - that have intimately affected the region and the people who live here. This tour will allow you to enjoy the most extraordinary views of Arenal Volcano during a gentle hike along the lower slopes of the colossus. The walk begins in one of the trails close to the volcano and continues through the forest until reaching the area destroyed in its first eruption, back in 1968. This tour takes approximately 2 1/2 hours. After the hike, a relaxing soak into the natural mineral waters of the Tabacon Hot Spings and an excellent dinner will finish a perfect day.

    Overnight at Volcano Lodge.

    Breakfast at the hotel.

After breakfast, start a road trip from Arenal to Manuel Antonio. This shared transfer will last 5 hours approximately, and will take you from the Northern Region to the Central Pacific, where you will enjoy some refreshing beach days.

Spend the afternoon enjoying the facilities of the hotel.
