During the last 10 years, the southern part of Costa Rica has been one of the fastest growing tourist and shopping region. For a long time it was considered as a very distant place away from the Central Valley and also had little economic development, however today the tourist who visits will find many places of great natural attractions, cultural and adventure.
This region is bordered on the north by the Cordillera de Talamanca and La Amistad International Park, south with Panama and the Pacific Ocean, and to the west with much of the Pacific Ocean and the Central Pacific.
Some protected areas found in this region are: Corcovado National Park, Piedras Blancas, National Park Chirripó, National Park Marino Ballena, La Amistad International Park, Térraba-Sierpe Wetland.
Golfito is a city that has always been known for being a shopping and a quit stop on the rode to go to Panama. With the tourist boom in the Osa Peninsula and other regions, Golfito is challenged to develop and give you a tourism choice to stay and vacation.
Today more than ever can be considered Golfito and South Zone relatively close. There are two options available for the visitor to reach by land: the first is via Route 2, which passes through major cities such as San Isidro, Buenos Aires and then take course to Palmar Sur. The second route is along Route 34, the waterfront. By going through this second route you can see the beautiful beaches as Manuel Antonio, Playa Matapalo, Dominical and Punta Uva.
For your holiday we recommend some hotels such as: Casa Roland, Las Gaviotas, Hotel Mar y Luna, and Fish Hook. These hotels are known for their central location in the city, which allows access to different businesses such as supermarkets, restaurants and bars.
