Celeste River hiking tour:
The tour leaves the town of La Fortuna at 6:00AM on one of the most interesting adventures of the flora, fauna, and natural wonders of the region.
We direct ourselves toward the Rio Celeste, located in Volcan Tenorio National Park, belonging to the same conservation area as Volcan Arenal. Situated in the north of Costa Rica, between Alajuela and Guanacaste provinces, it forms part of the communities of Upala, Guatuso, Canas, and Tilaran. This 17,000-hectare preserve, with an altitude of 1916 mts. (6984ft), average precipitation of 6000-8000 mm, and a temperature between 19-28? C, is part of the premontaine rainforest.
In this diverse park, we will hike the trail for approximately 4 hours where we will travel over 7 km. During the walk, we will visit places such as the Lagoon of the Rio Celeste, a site perfect for taking excellent photographs.
Continuing the trek, we will visit our own place, where two pristine brooks meet forming the perfect chemistry delighting us with the heavenly color that gives the river its name.
Returning via trails that highlight the value of nature and her infinite resources, you will arrive at some "mud pots", or thermal mud-filled cavities in the ground, where the guide will extract healing mud to apply as a mud mask on the bodies.
Additionally, there are thermal waters from Volcan Tenorio where you will have well-needed refreshment while we take a warm and soothing thermal bath. Continuing this journey on rugged trails through the mountains, you'll penetrate deeper into the jungle until you'll reach some volcanic fumaroles, ejecting steam and high temperature gases. To finish this interesting hike, we stop at the splendid waterfall of the Rio Celeste, known not for it size, but for its purity and turquoise color. After a difficult ascent, which we are helped by an anchored rope, we return to the park entrance, where waiting for us is a delicious lunch accompanied by refreshing drinks.
