The Selva Verde Lodge Rainforest Reserve is located in Chilamate, Sarapiquí; two hours away from San José. It is found near a lot of tourist attractions as the National Park Braulio Carrillo and the Organization for tropical studies “La Selva”. Inside the property 120 species of mammals exist (including 60 species of bats), 420 species of birds, 43 species of fish, 55 species of snakes (includes 7 poisonous), 500 species of butterflies and 50 species of frogs are found. It offers 40 charming River Lodge rooms rising above the rainforest floor on elevated platforms affording a unique view of the surrounding flora and fauna. Detailed Description

The River Lodge
Located near the Sarapiquí River, our charming River Lodge rooms rise above the rainforest floor on elevated platforms affording you a unique view of the surrounding flora and fauna. Rooms accommodate one to four guests in twin beds.
Rooms feature:

The Bungalows
Our five newly remodeled rainforest bungalows now have air conditioning! The bungalow rooms are discreetly tucked into the forest near the botanical garden located across the roadway from the main lodge. Their secluded location affords a peaceful ambiance for relaxing and keeping an eye out for wandering wildlife. The bungalows are great for honeymooners and those desiring a little extra comfort while experiencing the wonder of the rainforest.

While they are located approximately a 10 minute walk from the reception area, the path is lighted and almost completely covered making a very enjoyable, scenic walk via the botanical garden and secondary forest trails. In addition, the lodge has vehicle support for luggage ins and outs and other times when walking is not advantageous. Please note, however, that parts of the walk are uphill and have a number of wide stair steps. If walking on stairs or up inclines is a problem, the bungalows are not recommended.

How to get there

Selva Verde Lodge is located next to the beautiful Sarapiqui River in the Caribbean lowlands, 10 minutes west of Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui . It is approximately 15 minutes from the La Selva OTS Station and 2 hours from the San Jose airport.
