Art will welcome travelers with the Orotina destiny

Orotina de Alajueta is a beautiful place with a wide variety of things to see in Costa Rica. If you take a last minute travel deal to Costa Rica you will have the opportunity to live the art the country offers.
Travelers on their way to Orotina will be received by three giant faces painted in red, which are the art pieces starting the show.
The decision taken on this show was after several months of negotiation between Fabio Brenes, a famous sculptor, the Orotina’s municipality and several entrepreneurs from the region. The construction of a set of monumental sculptures is almost done and will be placed at Orotina’s entrance over route 27 that connects San José with Caldera.
Regardless the beauty of the place, Orotina’s way is constantly ignored by travelers, which makes Brenes come up with the idea. He said he wants the sculptures to be some type of magnet to the thousands of persons that transit that road.
Brenes also added that the sculpture is free of interpretation; however, he is sure that no one will deny understanding the sculpture’s meaning.
The inspiration for these arts grew from Orotina. The artist thinks Orotina is a fertile land where anything can be grown. “Every piece can represent a giant plant” said Brenes. Plus, the pieces’ hair resembles fibers and plant leaves.
Family is the second source of inspiration for Brenes; he says he sees it as a hope and future generations symbol. The third source of inspiration is nature, the best gift God gives us.
All these inspirations will be well applied and perfectly represented on the sculptures.
The set of sculptures will be placed on a base of 300 m and will have its surroundings full of rocks that symbolize seeds. All pieces are metal, the highest one measures 18,5 m and the lowest 11,5 m.
Brenes is working on the project since January and he will be finished in approximately two weeks.
This is a great opportunity to know the Costa Rica culture!
