Day 01:
Arrival transfer from the international airport
to hotel in San Jose. Night at Best Western Irazu Hotel.
Day 02:
Pick up at major hotels in San José. Departure time from San José, heading East, to the province of Cartago, that was the first capital city of our country. Our journey will take us to the Church of the Patron of Costa Rica, the “Virgin of Los Angeles”, to whom every year on August 02 many Costa Ricans pay her respect by joining on a pilgrimage coming from around the country. We will also visit the Ruins. Lunch at the hotel Our trip continues on the Pan-American Highway, from where you will enjoy the countryside. Drive through Cerro de la Muerte (Death Massif) at an altitude of 7,000 feet above sea level. At km 80 we will deviate to Trogón Lodge. Arrival and check in at hotel. Free time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Lunch at the hotel Restaurant “El Quetzal” Dinner and overnight at Trogon Lodge.
Day 03:
Gather at the Restaurant with your local guide for fresh coffee, tea or hot chocolate &
crackers, compliments of the house. Depart on a guided walk of the Cloud Forest. This
trip will take us on a quest for the famous Resplendent Quetzal, holly bird to the Mayans
and considered the “Phoenix of America”. You will also enjoy the search for one of the
more than 175 species identified in the area. Return to Lodge Typical breakfast at the
Lodge and free morning to enjoy, if desired, one of optional ( and extra cost) tours
including the Adventure Canopy ride, mountain bike rental and horseback riding. You
can also enjoy the trails at the Lodge and gardens. Lunch at the Restaurant.
Guided walk in the trails at the Lodge. Explore the Could Forest, including
primary and secondary growth forest. Enjoy admiring the Savegre River and its crystal
clear waters, the flora and fauna, including impressive centennial oak trees. Approximate
return time to Lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Day 04:
Typical breakfast at the Lodge.
Free morning at the area to discover on your own. Relax in one of rocking chairs by the
Restaurant observing the hummingbirds that fly by and if you wish, zip a nice cup of hot
chocolate or one of our coffee-based special drinks. Lunch at the Lodge. Our driver will
pick you up at Trogón for the return drive to the city to connect with a private
transfer to Selva Verde Lodge
Day 05:
Guided tour to Selva Verde Rain Forest Hiking tour.
(all meals included) Overnight at Selva Verde Lodge.
Day 06:
Free day to take optional tours. (all meals
included) Overnight at Selva Verde Lodge.
Day 07:
Breakfast. Private transfer to La Ensenada Lodge hotel. Overnight at La Ensenada Lodge.
Day 08:
Breakfast. Guided birdwatching tour at Palo Verde. Overnight at
La Ensenada Lodge.
Day 09:
Breakfast. Private transfer back to San Jose.
Overnight at Best Western Irazu Hotel.
Day 10:
Breakfast. Departure transfer from your hotel
to international airport.
