Tournament in Costa Rica : COPA DEL CAFE (COFFEE BOWL)
Costa Rica participated for the first time in the "Sunshine Cup" and "Orange Bowl" tennis tournament in Miami , Florida , on December, 1958. A few years later, the Costa Rica Country Club was able to organize a similar tournament with the cooperation of the Costa Rica Tennis Federation, local authorities, and private enterprise.
The Coffee Bowl is a junior tennis event for boys and girls (18 years old and under) played in January each year, and is included in the International Tennis Federation (I.T.F.) Junior Circuit.
The first edition of the "Coffee Bowl" was held in 1965. The tournament has featured throughout the years such outstanding players.
The tournament is played to a capacity paid audience which totals 25,000 in weekly total attendance and has daily national live television plus full media coverage; inauguration day ceremonies are attended by prominent government representatives.
