Biking tours in the South Caribbean
Duration: 2 hours.
Beautiful golden and white sandy beaches will appear along the gravel road while we find butterflies and birds of different species. Thanks to the conservation efforts of the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge you can find a great variety of wildlife along the road, such as birds, toucans, sloths, monkeys and coatis, as there 380 different species of birds only at this Refuge. Half way on the road we will stop for a refreshing cold soda.
We will keep on pedaling and we’ll go through this authentic Caribbean Village. Once we arrive to Manzanillo, we will walk on the beach and will get into the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Costa Rica Biking Adventures. ”Río Pejibaye”.
Duration: 9 hours
Starting in your hotel, we pick you up at 7:30 a.m. heading toward the city Of Cartago (First capital city of Costa Rica). We stop for breakfast at Cervantes, a little town where you can admire the "antiques" collected for many years. The tour starts at "Angostura" hydroelectric plant biking through sugar and coffee plantations.
The route is flat with a mountain segment of dense jungle and up hills. The feeling inside the mountain is awesome and there are good views of rivers from the road. Continuing on flat dirt road, we arrive to "La Posa" where you will have the opportunity to dive in it’s clear waters. Then, we will follow the road towards the dam and also to enjoy a delicious lunch in a restaurant of the area. We recommend bringing extra clothes, shoes and a towel.
Costa Rica Biking Adventures. ”Indígena Guayabo”.
Duration: 9 hours.
We will pick you up in your hotel, heading toward the town of Santa Cruz of Turrialba. We will begin our route on dirt and gravel road where we will pass by properties of livestock breeding for milk production and wild mountains. You will see the farmer's houses and some particular crops of the region. Bicycle is one of the most important ways of transportation in the region.
Along the way you will find lots of men and children going up and down with their bikes and saying hello to foreign bikers.
During the route we pass by the National Monument of Guayabo (optional tour to appreciate the beginning of a missing indigenous community). Continuing our bike ride we arrive at the central park of Turrialba where we will finish our journey. We will have lunch in a typical restaurant of the area.
This Route has a length of 32 Kms: 19 kms. In dirt and gravel road and 13 kms on paved road with 2.5 Km of steep hills.
Costa Rica Biking Adventures. ”Volcánica Irazú”.
Duration: 9 hours.
We will pick you up in your hotel, heading towards the Irazú Volcano (optional tour visiting the National Park and see the different types of craters and vegetation) the altitude here is 3432 mts. Above sea level.
We will begin our route descending from the top of Irazú volcano for some kilometers before we reach the entrance to Turrialba Volcano where we will continue heading towards the volcano surroundings with spectacular view points of the mountains.
During the route we will pass by coffee plantations, potatoes, cabbage, carrots and lettuce. The type of cattle we will find in our journey is Holstein and Jersey. After passing beautiful sceneries and livestock farms, we continue heading towards the city of Turrialba. The van will be waiting for us in order to take us to have lunch in a typical place of the area. This Route has a length of 22 Kms.
